Important Notice: Hurricane IAN

We hope that you and your friends and family have not been impacted by Hurricane Ian, but if you have, we are here to help. Due to Hurricane Ian in the State of Florida, Governor DeSantis issued a disaster declaration covering the entire state. In response to this declaration, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) has issued an Emergency Order which instructs insurance companies regarding measures for policyholders that have been impacted by this catastrophic event. For all Acceptance customers with active auto policies issued prior to September 28, 2022, and in accordance with the OIR’s order we will work with you:

  • By refraining from canceling or non-renewing those policies until November 28, 2022, unless the time is extended by further order from OIR or cancellation is specifically requested by you;
  • By temporarily postponing payment due dates to continue insurance coverage for you until November 28, 2022, unless the time is extended by further order from OIR;
  • By suspending late payment, reinstatement, insufficient funds, and other similar fees during this time;
  • By suspending deadlines and other time-related insurance policy and claim notice or response requirements until November 28, 2022, unless otherwise extended by further order from OIR; and
  • By facilitating the prompt and efficient payment of covered claims.

These extensions and/or exceptions do not address circumstances involving fraud or material misrepresentation or any coverage reason unrelated to the hardship created by the catastrophe. Additionally, this notice is not intended to waive your obligations to pay premiums owed, but rather to aid you during this difficult time. Florida Code 69O-142.015(2)(k) expressly permits insurers to offset premiums due from claim payments. These extensions and exceptions do not apply to any policy issued on or after September 28, 2022.

If you receive any notice regarding premium due dates or potential cancelation or non-renewal of your policy that was mailed on or after September 18, 2022, please be advised that Acceptance will not act on these notices of cancelation and/or non-renewal of policies for policyholders in the declared disaster area. All customers will receive an updated invoice and information regarding steps for the continuation of your policy after November 28, 2022.
