Team members from Acceptance Insurance (OTCQX: FACO), a leading personal insurance provider headquartered in Nashville, gathered on Sunday to help dedicate a colleague’s successful journey to first-time homeownership through Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville.
LaToya is the second Acceptance team member to obtain a home with Habitat for Humanity, having been inspired by a colleague’s own path to homeownership.
“I got to work on (co-worker) Demetrice Sneed’s house when it was being built, and that’s when I decided that I would do whatever it takes to own my own home,” remembered Bell. “I can’t even describe how special this moment is for me and what it meant to have the support of friends I work with through this experience.”
LaToya’s reasons for pursuing homeownership included a safer, quieter living environment and to fulfill another lifelong ambition from her childhood — fish tank ownership.
“Ever since I was little, I wanted an aquarium filled with beautiful goldfish,” laughed Bell. “But most rental homes don’t allow you to have one, so I never did.”
In June, Acceptance Insurance sponsored a Habitat for Humanity build day in honor of their colleague. More than 30 team members donated their Volunteer Time Off hours to install cabinets and siding on several houses in the Village by the Creek community, including LaToya’s future home.
“We’re incredibly proud of LaToya and all she’s done to earn the keys to her new home,” said Burley Nelson, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Acceptance Insurance. “Her determination is inspiring, and I’m grateful to everyone on her team who volunteered their time and effort to help her dream become a reality.”
As the dedication event came to an end, LaToya’s colleagues surprised her with a special gift: a starter aquarium and gift card so she can purchase the perfect fish for her new home.
